Former U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes

U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes Coloring Page

It's amazing that Rutherford B. Hayes even became President of the United States. The race was a close one. Hayes even lost the popular vote. However, Congress appointed a committee to choose the President and Hayes won by one Congressional vote. The outrage among the public was huge and Hayes received several death threats. In response Hayes promised to serve only one term. Hayes was a hero in the Civil War, he was a huge supporter of education, and he kept the White House completely alcohol free (very unusual for the time). He was good Methodist / Presbyterian and often held prayer meetings and hymn singing sessions with his cabinet and the Vice President. So, I have included the image of a cross and a musical note to go with Hayes' picture.
